Testimonials
“This man, Jurgen Tietz, is a genius when it comes to safety motivational talks. As you will see from many testimonials, he knows how to engage his audience whether it is management or the work force. I highly recommend him. If you see any opportunity to engage him, you will not regret it. Have a look at the info … it is excellent.“
— Howard Park, AEL Regional Ops Manager, Botswana
Powerful.
Excellent presentation. Connect with the audience right from the start. Really felt inspired by him. AWESOME.
I know and [am] excited about the great work done by Jürgen, and he is one of my mentors on industrial safety, so at any stage given the chance he is one of the people I would prefer to come address management and employees on safety.
— Rhulani Mathebula, Eskom Matimba Group Manager Plant Maintenance

Assmang Chrome Machadodorp Works: Thanks for your input and energy. Your presentation helped us refresh our commitment to Safety. Ashley McLeod, GM The previous campaign you did for us during 2011 really helped us to achieve a zero Lost time Injury achievement … and this is an achievement we need to celebrate but at the same time we need the work force to focus and move from where we are now to an independent stage or interdependent … This is where you have to come in, assisting as to move from where we are now to a new culture in terms of Safety. Tswelopele Pida, Acting SHEQ Manager |
Glencore Tweefontein Mine: Recommending you [for your involvement in launching our housekeeping campaign] was an easy task. Your reputation stands you in good stead. Ronaldt Mafoko, GM |
AfriSam: Safety is not always made practical and many courses Afrisam has attended focused on the theory part of SHE. The courses are normally technical and high level with complicated organograms etc. But Jurgens brought it simply through pictures and leadership skills that we so often neglect. The main learning for us is that without the people you have lost the SHE battle. Behaviour Based Safety is not 100% initiatives but one global focus on the people. Creative, simple, but yet effective from lower levels to CEO level. Looking forward to our next interaction. Letisha van den Berg, SHE Manager |

SAPPI Forestry and Paper & Packaging: Bertus van der Merwe, Technical Director Thank you for the quick Head Office Vuka Vusa GSAD presentation. I found it both entertaining and informative, and you bring the desired message across very clearly! Well Done. Ockie Strumpher, GM, Cape Kraft Mill |
NORTHAM PLATINUM, Zondereinde Division It has been a time since we met, but I can tell you that the safety intervention we had with you was an unforgettable experience of our lifetime in Northam. We have been doing so well that NORTHAM has made it to the 2 MILLION FATAL FREE SHIFTS on the 22/04/2013. Through your motivational techniques we were inspired in such a way that a choir in NORTHAM was organised focusing mainly in singing MOTIVATIONAL safety songs. With the request I received from my team members to have the choirs message to be recorded then I thought you Mr Jürgen Tietz can be of a great help to [this] choir, with the intentions of playing [this] song each time we have our own safety interventions. WE ARE INSPIRED … Kenny Rapoo, SHE Rep |

SAPPI Chemical & Cellulose Plant: Vuyo Bahlekazi, HR Manager We organised Jurgen (a safety expert and motivational speaker) to address our work force as part our Global Safety Awareness day initiatives. This was extremely well received by our work force as Jurgen presented in English, Zulu and Afrikaans. And of course the fact that the message was also very important helped. We found it very worthwhile. Craig Daniel, SHEQ Manager Absolutely – a great impact which we must keep in focus with Yoga , VIP and spade work ! Gary Bowles, MD Your presentations were very well accepted and I am sure we will reap the Safety benefits from the awareness you created. Clive Oxley, GM YEBO BABA! The concept was awesome and at yesterday’s workshop meeting the vibe from my people was extremely positive! Ken Toward, Assistant Engineering Manager Absolutely brilliant! … Had everyone’s attention (humorous vibe) but yet very basic and clear MESSAGES for all to comprehend what they should be doing with regards to safety! Loved it. Jenny Shepherd A pleasure meeting you. Always great when you meet one of the best in the Safety industry! You certainly have a wealth of ideas and are obviously doing it the right way (seeing your successes) … You really have a way of getting into the mind and hearts of the people on the floor. Bradley Hlubi, Emergency Response Manager, SAPREF |
ESKOM Matimba Power Station: This was excellent. We all enjoyed the program very much and we will pay your invoice with a smile. Fulufhelo Tshikhudo, Power Station Risk Manager A very motivational speech and presentation. All those at the SHE REP DAY loved him and were very interested in what he had to say. Especially when he spoke in the African language to the African people that immediately caught their attention and they were really impressed. Overall very well presented and handled. NORTHAM PLATINUM, Zondereinde Division: Yebo Baba !!! On behalf of Redpath Mining Team … thank you for the insight you gave us yesterday. It was an eye opener for us Coaches to “GOYA” and get SAFETY priority as PRIORITY … There was a slide with ACTION that I thought was very informative and also the tag on the shovel handle. Lazarus Motshwaiwa, Site Manager |
OMNIA Fertilizer: … Guest speaker was excellent. He got the attention of all the delegates, and by using a “comic” factor as well as facts, I believe that the progress in behavioural safety and reoccurrence of incidents will definitely be reduced. Riki Branford, Sasolburg Incredible presentation. We have had rave reviews and the positive feedback has been overwhelming. Louise Rademan, SHE Supervisor |
ESKOM Lethabo Power Station: … An excellent approach [getting] the employees to participate in the presentation. … Your technique to use pictures that have been taken from the work environment of the employees makes them aware of what they are doing right or wrong. You have also taught us that we must show the good things that people do, and not only the bad things. SS Prince, Power Station Manager |
ESKOM Duvha Power Station: Yebo Baba! … The presentation was lively, real and to the point. The method used to reach all the employees was really impressive … Thank you for sharing the perspective with us that we need to be safety conscious and not to put it at the back of our minds and make it a responsibility of the safety department. People, especially [those] with long service, remarked that within a short period of time [you] managed to turn around their safety perception … felt the responsibility you were referring to with such passion! They were all inspired to take safety seriously for their sakes, their families and their colleagues. MS Jappie, Power Station Manager |
Rheinmetall Denel Munition: Yebo Baba! … Well prepared, well presented and well thought through ideas … You really knocked their [employees] socks off. As for the subject matter, Safety experts are getting fewer and fewer, let alone those who are well versed in the explosives industry. Your knowledge and experience made it real for our employees as they could associate with your examples and pictures of good / bad safety and explosive practices, especially using your mirror technique. … Even more stunning was how you drove main points and the core message on Safety … The way you kept the audience alive with humour, without losing them – while the message was going home, straight into the hearts and minds. We are very pleased that the awareness was raised but what is more important is the lasting thought left behind, long after presentations are over. Joe Tau, GM, Operations |
Jürgen in Action … I loved your video for several reasons: Your regional knowledge and understanding of your audience is simply fantastic. You have really “Studied Your Prey” and address your audience’s need NOT yours, which so many speakers insist on doing. You also have a great sense of humor which you use as a vocal signature and which becomes a distinct aspect of your keynote. You really understand your subject matter and you speak from a space of having “been there and done that” but most of all your audience knows that and appreciates it. I look forward to future contact and it has been a true pleasure to meet you and learn of your excellent work. Kivi Bernhard, “Leopardology” |

VUKA! VUSA!™ Workshops at SA Mint I would like to single out the impact you made on our Safety Representatives through the Vuka! Vusa! workshop. I think that the secret of this program is that it is pitched skillfully to empower the Safety Representatives to take action. This has enabled the company to tap effectively into this valuable resource to drive the safety vision. Tumi Tsehlo, GM … The ideal tool to help recharge our large compliment of safety reps … Those new to the game got some insight into their responsibilities and came back to work ready to tackle anything. The veteran safety reps felt the course was well structured and enjoyed the wit and humour of the facilitators. Not like the normal ‘boring’ theory safety course they are required to attend. … For team building and informative and interactive safety coaching, I give this workshop a thumbs up! Ronele Isaacs, SHE Manager |
VUKA! VUSA!™ Bootcamp at Omnia Sasolburg … The best and most enjoyable training I have ever been on … I’m sure that with what you gave me and the toolbox, I’ll reach the “ZERO target” for the year. Fred Behr, Hi Quality Electrical Great course. Very informative, creative and motivational. I plan to use the term Vuka! Vusa!™ on a day to day basis. Not only at work but in my personal life as well. I showed my wife the Toolbox and it has motivated her to be more safety conscious for herself and our little daughter. The Toolbox has already been of assistance with my safety talk on Friday. … I will use what I’ve learned and motivate others to “GOYA” and make a difference in safety by “saving” their lives and preventing them from destroying others’ lives. Dirk Visser |
VUKA! VUSA!™ SHE Reps Workshop at ASSMANG Cato Ridge … Probably the best attendance of our SHE representatives at any meeting. Your reputation precedes you. And they The message was simple, practical and well received. We definitely need to do a follow-up session and perhaps direct the safety message to the foremen and supervisors. Well done and thank you for an effective message. Siyabonga Makhaye, SHEQ HOD |
